Description: This exceptional folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. I was very excited when Andre Thorburn and Andre Van Heerden introduced me to their friend. His work immediately caught my attention. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The drop point N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade has been hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
Stabilized palm wood scales are set on blue anodized titanium liners. The dark toned wood is extremely elegant, with its characteristic figure. Texturized stainless steel bolsters finish this piece, echoing the simple and elegant geometric lines in the blade and handle. Smooth action with a well centered blade.
Herucus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for - exceptional fit and finish throughout!
