Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the Damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make large, impressive Bowies.
The 9 inch long blade was forged to shape Micke's own twist pattern damascus. It is a very tight twist that immediately grabs attention. The damascus was forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels for exceptional edge holding.
A stylized damascus habaki (blade guard) separates the blade from the oval guard. Both the guard and ferrule were meticulously hand engraved by Micke. The guard features a particularly unique running wheat pattern travelling in a circular direction. The ferrule is engraved in Western scroll. The main section of the handle is formed from ancient mammoth ivory bark. The natural texture of the ivory makes a tremendous grip. The handle is finished with a web pattern mosaic damascus butt cap.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
