Description: South African knifemaker, Andre Van Heerden, creates an amazing folder … and this one is certainly among his most captivating! It was made in the spring of 2014 and has been in a knifemaker's private collection. It has been meticulously cared for -- never used or carried. By all appearances, Andre could have made it yesterday.
The mosaic damascus blade was forged by Ettoré Gianferarri, ensuring that the patterns will be unique and different from those generally found on the American market. It is exceptionally complex and immediately captivating. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action. Ettoré's damascus has become increasingly rare to find -- even in South Africa.
14 sections of carbon fiber were meticulously inlaid into titanium scales and set on anodized titanium liners. The combination of these two materials keep this knife light and fast. The inlay is extremely precise and shows Andre's work at its best. The resulting handle will have excellent durability as a using knife, but will easily feel at home in a collection. You would have to push Andre pretty hard to get him to re-create this knife today.
