Description: Mastersmith Rick Dunkerley is well known for his exquisite, precise folders. He is one of the bladesmiths that became known and the Montana Boys and is one of the few makers specializing in folders to be on the board of directors of the American Bladesmith Society.
This spider-themed folder is a playful piece by Rick. The blade and steel revealed in the window frames is a complex mosaic damascus depicting spiders in their webs. This is not engraving, but instead, the spiders and webs were literally forged into the steel, showing Rick's skill at the forge.
The damascus backbar and heat blued 15N20 carbon steel liners were both meticulously hand fileworked. Screws used throughout are also fileworked and heat blued.
The blade is well centered and has smooth action, with a distinctive click as it moves into its detent. It is easily opened using a faceted diamond set into the heat blued thumb stud. Exceptional work throughout!
