Description: This exceptional Stag Crown Indian Knife was made by Gib Guignard in May of 2005. It has been in a private collection since is was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. Gib has sadly passed away, but was well known for his primitive style knives that were very popular amongst early American reenactors.
Gib forged the blade to shape from 5160 carbon steel. The grinds are satin finished. The flats reveal his forge finish -- proof of how accurate and skilled Gib was at the forge. The blade is antiqued for an heirloom appearance.
The crown stag handle is exceptional sambar stag. Stag of this quality has become increasingly rare. It is perfectly sized and feels great in the hand.
The knife is accompanied by two sheaths. The simpler sheath is hand sewn dyed leather by Ned Peterson. The second sheath is a frontier style rawhide sheath by renowned sheath maker John Cohea. It features an antler crown stud with antique glass and bone trade beads, tin cones and horsehair.
Exceptional work throughout!
