Description: Mastersmith Ed Fowler's knives are the hallmark of a perfect hunter. Each knife is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. Ed's heat treatment creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. This knife has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It features Ed's mark oriented toward the bolster. Both the blade and sheath are in new condition. The knife does not appear to have been used to cut and it has never been re-sharpened since it was made.
The drop point blade was forged to shape from Ed's own damascus. The blade has a nice distal taper and a rounded spine. The left ricasso bares Ed's mark. The brass bolsters were engraved by Ed with his signature six branch willow bow.
The handle fills the hand naturally. Ed deviated slightly from his standard sheep horn style by combining Arizona desert ironwood sheep horn spacer. It is extremely rare for Ed to make a knife with any handle material other than sheep horn. The heel of the handle is formed from naturally shaped sheep horn, with the end of the horn inlaid with ironwood. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. At the junction of sheep horn and ironwood, Ed carved the wood to match the natural texture of the horn.
The knife is accompanied by a leather pouch style sheath.
