Description: Randy's fascination with knives began as a young man, when he made his first knife in a high school "metal" class. Since then, knifemaking has become a family project for him. Each of his four sons have taken their turn helping in the shop, while his wife, Sonja, makes the sheaths for the knives.
This sub-hilt fighter has a blade formed from hollow ground CPM-154 stainless steel, which will maintain a superior edge and will be easy to re-sharpen, due to the hollow grind. The blade is finished with a high polish, complementing the similar polish on the sub hilt guards and end cap.
The handle is comprised of six primary layers surrounded by thin alternating spacers of nickel silver and red fiber, assisting the knife to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Warm tones in the stabilized box elder burl are highlighted by lighter oosic and red amber. The box elder burl has a tremendous swirling grain structure.
This sub hilt fighter is accompanied by a very nicely tooled, custom leather sheath incorporating snake skin. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
