Description: Dietmar Kressler is one of Germany's most famous knifemakers -- though unfortunately his work only rarely gets to the US. This exquisite, small Sub-Hilt Fighter has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in new condition and has never been carried or used to cut. This model has been dubbed "gesamtkunstwerk" which translates to "total work of art". This term has been used in Germany since 1827 to mark pieces of art or any items that are held to such a high standard as to be considered an ideal. A classy and sophisticated piece which is definitely a collector's item!
The now-classic Sub-Hilt Fighter design was pioneered by Bob Loveless and has inspired many makers to create similar pieces. Dietmar has furthered the vision and is arguably the foremost maker of integral knives made to Bob's patterns. Boker of Solingen, Germany recently collaborated with D.F. to create a production knife based on this sub hilt fighter design.
This knife is integral, with all steel formed from a single billet of RWL-34 stainless steel. It is meticulously and beautifully finished! The blade, guard, sub hilt, and butt are all satin finished. The blade features Kressler's mark on the left side in a football pattern: D.F. Kressler/Munchen. The handle is formed from black linen Micarta. The fit and finish here is excellent!
The knife is accompanied by a brown leather sheath.
