The Chris Reeve Sebenza is the standard for a hard use tactical folder. Virtually every year since the inception of the Sebenza in 1987 we have seen small, incremental developments, improvements and changes. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Sebenza in 2012, Chris brought some new concepts to the Sebenza 25. The blade now sports blue anodized double thumb studs. This Sebenza 25 is the first to feature a blade with a new grind that blends the best of hollow and flat grinds. A shaped phosphor bronze washer on the lock side brings additional stability to that side of the blade. A one-eighth inch ceramic ball now acts as the interface between the lock bar and the blade, and doubles to drop into the detent, ensuring the blade stays in place when closed. Larger perforations in the washers reduce friction, store more lubricant and offer space for small dirt particles to move away from the blade/washer interface, helping to prevent blade action from becoming “sticky”. A 416 heat treated stainless steel stop pin is fit into the lock side of the handle. Asymmetrical pattern thumb serrations on the curved thumb ramp of the blade give excellent purchase. And at .14” (3.56mm), the blade is more robust than previous Sebenza models.
The handle now incorporates an additional finger groove in the titanium, offering an even more secure grip. The hole in the end of the left face of the scale is now gone, and the lanyard is tied to a back spacer and set further away from the tip of the blade in a closed position. Both refined design and high-performance construction are evident in this folder. The titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip up carry. The right side features the "Made in Idaho" mark. Remarkably light for its size due to the titanium frame. The Sebenza 25 features a strong integral locking mechanism that Chris Reeve popularized.
