Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as the Swedish Hunter. This is an exquisite example of his work.
Roger began by forging the dramatic damascus blade. Linear damascus is combined with an explosion pattern cutting edge. A long clip is not fully sharpened and moved into a hand fileworked spine.
Roger's work on his handles has always set him apart -- his ability to find rare and exciting materials continues to draw my attention. Different tones of mammoth ivory are combined into a particularly compelling handle. A front 'bolster' is formed from cross cut mammoth ivory and reveals the ivory's natural figure. After a thin, blond, ivory spacer, a caramel section of mammoth ivory as been meticulously carved in a floral pattern. Mammoth ivory scales are completed with a crosscut caramel toned mammoth ivory end cap. A side frame is formed from ebony.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish hand tooled leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
