Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as synonymous with the Swedish Hunter. His one-of-a-kind sole authorship creations have a timeless beauty and a high attention to detail.
The mosaic damascus blade is a multi-bar composite. The edge and spine have been forged into a firecracker pattern from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels -- a combination that is visually striking while having excellent edge holding ability. Inspired by East Indian culture, he forged a large Om symbol into the mosaic snakeskin background of the central bar. The blade features a hollow grind for ease of sharpening and a swedge that runs 3/4 the length of the spine.
Roger is particularly well known for his handle-work, where he uses particularly rare and exotic materials. The main section of the handle is formed from handsomely carved Arizona desert ironwood that has been polished to bring out the wood's natural chatoyancy. A visual effect similar to a tiger's eye gemstone, the shimmering grain pattern can only be found in the highest grade of wood. Roger used cross-cut mammoth ivory for the 'bolster' -- its consummate 'V' pattern figure is brilliantly visible. A cross-cut section of walrus ivory showing the characteristic tapioca separates the ironwood from the mammoth ivory.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish sheath that has been hand tooled, and is just as artistically made as the knife it carries. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
