Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder at an amazingly low price. The blade is perfectly centered and silky smooth -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The clip point N690 stainless steel blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. Jimping on the thumb ramp ensures a secure grip. The flipper doubles as a front guard that keeps the hand from sliding forward onto the blade.
The scales combine finely fitted lightning strike carbon fiber and heat blued damascus forged from stainless steel and titanium. This type of carbon fiber was originally designed for use on fighter jets to redirect electricity. Copper strands move through the carbon fiber weave. Lightning strike carbon fiber is among the hardest to find knifemaking materials. The bolsters are formed damascus combining titanium with stainless steel. This very rare combination is dramatic and exceptional!
The gently rounded handle feels sturdy and fills out the hand perfectly. The handle is completed with blue anodized titanium liners and red fiber spacers that elegantly contrast the carbon fiber scales. The titanium liners are hand fileworked. The stainless steel pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
Exceptional fit throughout.
