Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The drop point N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. A long swedge lightens the blade and creates a detail oriented tip. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
The blade is easily opened by using the front flipper mechanism. The front flipper is more compact than the traditional flipper mechanism and is less likely to get caught in a pocket. The blade is well centered and has silky-smooth action due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
The amboyna burl scales have a beautiful and elegant appearance, and sit on red fiber spacers. Bolsters are mosaic damascus with a radial explosion design. Titanium liners are anodized to gold tones and are hand fileworked in a vine pattern.
This folder is a classy and refined piece, unique and not ostentatious. Herucus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for - exceptional fit and finish throughout!
