Description: South African knifemaker Andre van Heerden creates an amazing folder -- and at a price that could never be found from an American handmade knife.
The S35VN stainless steel blade has been hand satin finished. The blade is easily opened with a simple flick of the wrist or using the flipper mechanism. The blade has silky smooth action, due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Carbon fiber scales are polished and dovetailed to the silicon bronze bolsters for a perfect fit. The bolsters are TextureTech™, which was developed by Mastersmith Tom Ferry in 2004 from Alpha Knife Supply. At the time Todd Begg proposed the name and it stuck. It is an interesting mix of high tech material with an old school look & feel. The reticulated silicon bronze is reminiscent of elephant hide.
The thick anodized titanium frame and carbon fiber scales keep this sturdy knife light and fast despite its size. A pierced titanium pocket clip mounted for tip up carry keeps the knife close at hand. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
