Description: Steven Rapp has been a custom art-knife maker for almost 30 years, and a full-time knife maker for the last 16 years. Steven's knives are extremely collectible and he only makes 10-20 knives a year -- with almost a two year wait. He is well known for his ability to reproduce antique knives with authenticity, as well as make knives of his own design.
This knife has been in a private collection and does not appear to have ever been used to cut. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
This unique hunter has a blackwood handle. The wood has been fluted, and inside the three recesses a twisted silver wire has been inlaid. Both the blade and tang are distal tapered for a perfect balance. The wood swells toward the end of the handle, and feels very comfortable in hand. The ends of the two bolster wires feed into pointed, grooved "caps" in the silver. Not only does the fluted aspect look good, it also assists in offering a secure grip.
The blade of 440C stainless steel is mirror-polished, and features a deep bellied drop point. As classy and different as this knife appears, it is ready for serious use. It is very rare to find Rapp's work available!
