Description: Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
Patterned after an original from the jungles of Borneo, this design was added to the Winkler Knives II Collection at the request of a Tier 1 SOF Team.
The hidden tang reduces overall weight and enhances forward balance for increased chopping power. The maple wood rear handle swell has a downward sweep which provides a secure indexed grip, and is adorned with tribal markings. The 80CRV2 carbon steel blade measures 12" from the front of the steel ferrule, with an 8-1/2 inch cutting edge. The blade is coated with a non-glare Caswell finish. The kydex sheath has a pocket for the included rubber mounted DMT diamond sharpener.
