Description: This Bowie was hand forged by Mastersmith Bill Buxton from 2 inch W2 square stock using a carefully regulated forge so that precise temperatures would be achieved during the forging process. It was then clay coated and heat treated using a temperature controlled oven to ensure that proper temperatures were maintained throughout the entire heat treating process, which results in a visible and very unique hamon line. The top clip travels nearly the entire length of the blade, totaling 7 1/2 inches in length, and was brought just shy of a sharpened edge. The hamon which travels through the approximate mid point of the blade turns back at the tip to harden the spine.
The guard and end cap are made from Buxton's twist patterned damascus forged from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels. The handle is sculpted from a solid piece of premium stabilized box elder burl. Swirling grays mixed into gold tones of the burl complement the dramatic twist pattern damascus guard.
The Bowie is accompanied by a custom sheath that has been hand sewn and tooled by Bill. Buxton uses only the highest quality materials in making his knives and sheaths to ensure years of unrivaled performance.
