Description: ABS Mastersmith Bill Buxton prides himself on making knives that have a modern spin on classic designs, and this African blackwood fighter is yet another prime example. Bill's penchant for dramatic combinations and exacting standards have led him to become a most highly sought after maker in the collector world.
This clip point blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel 2 inch round stock using a carefully regulated forge so that precise temperatures would be achieved throughout the forging process. It was then clay coated and heat treated using a temperature controlled oven to ensure that proper temperatures were obtained and maintained throughout the entire heat treating process, which in turn left a visible and very dramatic hamon line. The hamon shows the transition between soft, supportive steel at the spine, and the hard edge steel capable of holding a keen, long lasting edge.
An integral guard is fit to the handle, which is comprised of a single piece of African Blackwood. Elegant floral scroll engravings by David Tucker embellish three sides of the bolster and an escutcheon on each side of the handle.
A custom fit, hand-tooled leather sheath accompanies the knife. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
