Description: Anders's work is highly valued by collectors worldwide - he has consistently produced pieces with some of the tightest tolerances of any maker, anywhere. A recurrent theme in his work is his inspired fusion of Japanese and Nordic styles, creating pieces that are bold, elegant, and truly unique. Quetzalcoatl is among my favorite knives by Anders and is inspired by Aztec ceremonial blades.
The 3-1/2 inch blade is a broad leaf shape that is tremendously captivating. The hamon (temper lines) created by Anders' clay heat treat process result in a knife that has excellent edge retention, while also having the support of a softer central ridge. Double hamon lines are created by quenching the blade twice. This creates multiple hardness zones within the blade and is particularly difficult to achieve, showing the tremendous skill of the maker.
The bolster and central pin are formed from antiqued bronze. The handle moves seamlessly into African blackwood and ancient walrus ivory. Copper spacers and a final bring in warm tones. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
