Description: Wayne Whittaker creates truly phenomenal works of art. His use of exotic materials and dramatic heat blued damascus is breathtaking.
The bolsters and blade are both formed from heat blued Robert Eggerling mosaic damascus in different patterns. The damascus has taken on purple, green, silver, and bronze tones. The mosaic pattern of the drop point blade resembles pinwheels, and has a soft air of playfulness.
Mammoth molar is the showcase of this folder -- the scales exhibiting tones of burnt cream and raw umber are exquisitely complementary to the blued damascus as well. The bolsters have been deep acid etched for a stimulating texture. The highly complex damascus patterns are fascinating -- both from a distance and upon closer examination.
Both the liners and backbar have been meticulously fileworked, and matching filework extends into a thumb rest. Five zirconia rubies are inlaid into the spine, surrounded by a textured finish. A faceted zirconia ruby thumbstud allows for an easy one-handed open. The interior of the backbar is fileworked surrounding the maker's mark -- a nice touch. Excellent work throughout!
