Description: This clip point bowie shows how Aaron Wilburn's work is developing an increasing refinement of design while he continues to create hard-working, field-use knives. The fit and finish, as well as design skill shown in this bowie, are exceptional!
The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. Optimal edge holding is attained through a differential clay heat treatment. Prior to quenching, the blade is insulated with clay. The resulting undulating heat treatment line is called a hamon. Aaron created the blade with a dramatic turn back the hamon so that the long clip could also be fully hardened. The flats are forge textured.
The S-guard and butt cap were forged from antique wrought iron and flame finished. A twisted damascus ferrule and finial were forged from carbon steels. Nickel silver spacers add contrast.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath incorporating beaver and ostrich leathers.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
