Description: Of the many makers that create Laguiole-style knives, Fontenille Pataud is generally regarded as the best. Each knife is handmade to precision specs and is a work of visual and textural art. All of their knives are made in their workshop in Thiers, France. Their team is comprised of eight skilled craftsmen and apprentices. Gilles Steinberg, owner and master craftsman, manages the group. Keeping the company's size small and employing only the best cutlers keeps the quality and exclusiveness of these knives at a premium level.
This Laguiole Sport features a stainless steel grosse rosen pattern damascus blade. The damascus has a bold and highly contrasting pattern that catches the attention from a distance and holds it upon closer inspection.
The sheep horn scales are captivating in coloration and texture and are held in place by three nickel silver domed pins. The scales are accented with mirror polished stainless steel bolsters. A traditional Laguiole 'Bee' is forged into the spring. The spring is hand chased with file work and is mirror polished. A blade stop mechanism keeps the edge from contacting the back spring - this helps keep the edge sharp longer.
This is a knife that will feel comfortable in nearly any collection, but will also hold up well to hard use.
