Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as the Swedish Hunter. This exquisite example of his work has been in a single private collection since it was made by Roger back in 2001. It has never been used to cut and has not been sharpened since Roger made it. By all appearances, Roger could have made it yesterday.
Roger began by forging the dramatic damascus blade. The blade combines a central linear bar with an explosion pattern edge and spine. The patterns catch attention from a distance and hold it upon closer examination.
Roger's work on his handles has always set him apart -- his ability to find rare and exciting materials continues to draw my attention. Here, warthog tusk is combined with presentation grade snakewood. Thinner spacers are formed from dark toned oak that was recovered from a ship that sunk 300 years ago. Not only is the sunken oak an incredible material, but it creates an excellent contrast to the other materials chosen. The handle is sculpted with both comfort and dramatic appearance in mind.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish hand tooled leather sheath.
