Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as the Swedish Hunter. This exquisite example of his work has been in a single private collection since it was made by Roger back in the fall of 2001. It has never been used to cut and has not been sharpened since Roger made it. By all appearances, Roger could have made it yesterday.
This is one of those knives that each time you look at it, you see more detail. The Damascus is among the most detailed and finest patterned Damascus that Roger had made at that time. The complex blade combines mosaic stars with a firecracker pattern edge.
Roger's work on his handles has always set him apart -- his ability to find rare and exciting materials continues to draw my attention. Here, the central section of the handle is formed the metacarpus bone from an ice age horse. The bone is 40,000 - 60,000 years old. This is surrounded by polished cocobolo and ironwood. Both the front bolster and pommel are formed from ancient walrus ivory. The bolster is polished. The pommel shows off the outer bark texture.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath by Roger.
