Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as the Swedish Hunter. This exquisite example of his work has been in a single private collection since it was made by Roger back in the fall of 2001. It has never been used to cut and has not been sharpened since Roger made it. By all appearances, Roger could have made it yesterday.
Roger began by forging the dramatic damascus blade. Roger had recently returned from traveling to India when he created this blade. Inspired by East Indian culture, he forged a large Om symbol into the mosaic damascus snakeskin background. A firecracker pattern cutting edge was forged from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels.
Roger's work on his handles has always set him apart -- his ability to find rare and exciting materials continues to draw my attention. Here, ancient walrus ivory is combined with presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood. The handle is sculpted with both comfort and dramatic appearance in mind.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath.
