Description: P-O Eklund is one of the masters of the Sami styled knife and regularly receives awards in the Swedish Championships. Seeing his work, it is no surprise. This exceptional Sami Style half horn hunter won 2nd prize for halfhorn knives, class A at the Nordic Championship in Ludvika, Sweden in 2011. This is among the most prestigious awards in Nordic knives.
This knife is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. The blade was forged by renowned Danish bladesmith Ernst Frandsen. He incorporated two opposing bars in a highly detailed and captivating explosion pattern, combining 15N20 and 20C carbon steels.
The handle is very traditional and has a slim oval shape that fits comfortably and securely in the hand. The reindeer antler has a slight gloss finish, bringing out natural variations in color. The traditional Scandinavian patterns on the sheath and handle are not scrimshaw, but hand engraving, darkened with alder bark powder. The engraving is very detailed, showing tremendous skill in implementation. A cutout on the front of the sheath reveals highly detailed basket weave engraving. In the center is a smaller cutout that allows the Damascus blade to be seen when inserted. A matching cutout in the handle reveals basket weave engraving below. Exceptional fit and finish throughout! Accompanied by reindeer leather storage pouch.
