Description: In 2007, Mastersmith J.R. Cook was designated by the Arkansas Heritage Commission as the Arkansas Living Treasure. He makes less than 12 Arkansas Living Treasure knives each year. This knife was made in 2007 and is the 9th ALT knife that he made. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
The upswept blade was forged to shape from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. The left ricasso is marked J.R. Cook MS. The right ricasso is marked ALT 9 2007. A 416 stainless steel guard separates the damascus blade from the carved pre-ban ivory handle. The ivory is carved in Art Nouveau style.
Exceptional work throughout!
