Description: This is one Mastersmith Jerry Fisk's remarkable and extremely rare "National Living Treasure" knives. Jerry makes no more than 12 National Living Treasure (NLT) knives per year and often fewer than that. This makes the NLTs some of most collectible and hardest to get Fisk knives of all. This exceptional Bowie has been in a private collection and is in new condition. It has been meticulously cared for and by all appearances it could have been made yesterday. This is the 10th NLT knife that Jerry made in 2004.
Jerry has received more knifemaking awards and honors than we can possibly list. He was designated a National Living Treasure and has been recognized with just about every honor or award a knife maker can receive. This includes, but is not limited to displays in multiple museums in America and Europe, as well as being a member of the American Bladesmith Hall of Fame. In his 25 years making knives, Jerry helped develop a bladesmithing school in San Paolo Brazil, received the Arkansas Governors Award for Traditional Arts, and is the only Bladesmith to receive the William F. Moran Bladesmithing Award two times.
This exceptional Bowie shows off Jerry's work at its best. The 9 inch long, broad blade was forged to shape from Jerry's Dog Star pattern damascus, beginning with 15N20 and 1084 carbon steels. The radiating pattern is immediately captivating. The left ricasso is marked "Fisk/M.S." A satin finished oval guard separates the handle from the blade. The 416 stainless steel ferrule is meticulously engraved in Western Scroll by Jerry. The base is engraved "NLT #10 '04". Pristine ancient walrus ivory scales are set on the full tang. Stainless rivets are engraved in matching style. The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath by Kenny Rowe. Exceptional work throughout!
