Description: Canadian knifemaker Alain Desaulniers' work is meticulously performed. Alain had the opportunity to work with renowned knifemaker John Young, who in turn worked under Steve Johnson. The influence of Young, Johnson, and Bob Loveless is clearly visible in Desaulniers' work. This, matched with his attention to detail, makes for an exceptional knife.
The 6-1/2 inch blade is made from ATS-34 stainless steel, which offers superior rust resistance as well as edge retention. It is hollow ground to accentuate the dramatic grind lines. A false edge runs the same length as the cutting edge. The blade is brought to a mirror polish.
Micarta scales sit on a full tang for strength and durability. A distal taper to both blade and tang results in perfect balance. The guard utilizes the Sub-Hilt Fighter design. The now-classic Sub-Hilt Fighter was pioneered by Bob Loveless and has inspired many makers to create similar pieces. This type of guard is designed to lock both your thumb and index finger into place. A hole has been drilled in case a lanyard setup is wanted.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
