Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John Arnold has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and a retired architect, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa recognized John's skill and accepted him as a member in September 2006.
This exquisite wharncliffe has been in a knifemaker's private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It has not be used to cut or carried. By all appearances, John Arnold could have made it yesterday.
The wharncliffe blade and bolsters are formed from matching Rob Thomas ladder pattern damascus. Silky smooth action and a perfectly centered blade. The bolsters were etched with a border resist to dramatic effect. Presentation grade mammoth ivory scales are dovetailed to the bolsters for a perfect fit. Blue/green mammoth ivory of this quality is particularly rare. Fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Blue anodized titanium liners are hand fileworked and surround the damascus backbar.
Excellent work throughout!
