Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and architect by profession, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa recognized John's skill and accepted him as a member in September 2006.
This elegant folder features a locking, folding gut hook that is truly unique! It is a strong, reliable folder for everyday carry, yet it could easily be a cherished knife in any collection. The blade is a stainless twist pattern damascus. The blade is wickedly sharp, incorporating a fascinating grind - John has sculpted the swedge in such a way that when viewed point-first, the modified tanto tip forms an elongated diamond shape. The action is silky smooth, and the blade is perfectly centered without the slightest wobble.
The sliding back strap is formed from N690 stainless steel and conceals an elegant gut hook. A modified liner lock mechanism locks the gut hook in place. This is a design that John has been developing for some time and the results are exceptional!
The handle scales are formed from mammoth molar. Fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The angular, sculpted scales are set on anodized titanium liners, jewel polished on the interior. Ambidextrous thumb studs complete the piece. Excellent work throughout!
