Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned grinding technique from his father. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
This Long SWAT knife (Long Police) is handmade by him and shows his skill at its best. This is the longer version of the knife commissioned by a Japanese SWAT team. The design intent is to have one tool for use by a SWAT team member that could slice, pry, chop and stand up to abuse in the line of duty. The D2 semi-stainless steel blade will have exceptional edge holding. It features his high performance Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind and a non-reflective disruptive acid finish. The thumb ramp is textured for a secure grip. The canvas Micarta handle is carved and set on the substantial full tang. The handle features two choils for choking up or down on the knife along with jimping on the flared pommel. The pommel is shaped to not only provide secure thumb purchase, but also act as a glass-breaker. This design is a highly sought-after model due to its versatility and background.
Accompanied by a hand fitted Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok belt clip. Exceptional work throughout!
