Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
Bob combined elk antler with a dyed and stabilized box elder burl spacer. Alternating brass and black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to changes in temperature and humidity. This rare Bob Lay hunter features a brass guard and spacers along with an aluminum pommel. The results are a perfectly balanced knife that is a bit lighter and easier to bring out into the wild.
Bob recently began using a wider range of steels including ATS-34, 19C27 and CPM154. This 19C27 stainless steel has a smaller grain structure allowing the blade to be keener and hold the edge longer. The blade has been tempered to 58.5 Rc for optimal edge retention. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic.
Accompanied by hand tooled sheath, cordura storage pouch, and certificate from the maker.
