Description: Mastersmith Shane Taylor is best known for one-of-a-kind knives, with an emphasis on pictorial mosaic damascus and highly engraved art knives. His unique vision is influenced by steam punk and gothic aesthetics. Bowies of this magnitude are very rare to find! This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by appearances it could have been made yesterday!
The damascus blade is highly detailed and shows tremendous control. Bold and subtle patterns combine into a blade that both grabs attention from a distance and holds it upon closer examination. The heat colored blade reflects greens and reds when turned in the light. The long clip leads into a hand engraved spine. Shane's Isle of Man engraving is exceptionally well done. Shane's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The guard and pommel were forged from wrought iron recovered from a mid 1800s wagon wheel. The ferrule is hand engraved in Celtic knotwork. The sambar stag crown handle is exceptional! It is perfectly shaped for a comfortable, secure grip. Sambar of any quality is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Finding sambar stag of this quality is now unheard of. The crown is completed with an engraved pommel and wrought iron disc.
Exceptional work throughout from a master of the craft.
