Description: Collectors of Anders' work know that he has some of the tightest tolerances of any maker, anywhere. Anders excels in creating a fusion of Japanese and Nordic styles.
The 3-3/4 in. dagger ground blade is 1050 carbon steel and has been differentially heat treated using the traditional Japanese clay technique. The undulating gunome hamon (temper line) results in a knife that has excellent edge retention, while also having the support of a softer central core.
The handle combines an ancient walrus ivory artifact with antiqued copper fittings. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Inuit people used ancient walrus ivory to create tools -- from sled runners, to fire starters, fishing hooks to fishing weights. This handle is formed from a section of artifact fishing weight. Anders has maintained the texture of time and water in the handle. It creates a perfectly shaped grip and is remarkably comfortable. Exceptional work throughout.
