Description: This unique bowie knife was made by Mastersmith Kevin Harvey back in 1997. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It has never been used to cut and is in new condition. There are no scuffs or dings anywhere and by all appearances could have been made yesterday.
The blade is formed from D6 tool steel. It is hollow ground and mirror polished. Both the clip and cutting edge are fully sharpened. Kevin has set nickel silver on the flats which he has engraved. The left side shows a lone wolf howling at the full moon. Mountains and trees are set in the background. The right side shows a close-up of the snarling wolf.
Nickel silver fittings surround a jet black African blackwood handle. The fittings are fileworked and textured in the style of renowned South African knifemaker Billy Kojetin (Kevin's teacher). The blackwood scales are set on a distal tapered full tang. Each side is inlaid with a cream toned mammoth ivory inlay. The inlays are scrimshawed by South African artist Bruce van Blerck. The left side depicts a pack of three wolfs tracking their far-off prey. The right side depicts the pack after they ran down and killed a deer. The handle is completed with a leather lanyard.
Exceptional work throughout from a tremendous maker!
