Description: Raymond Richard's knives have a timeless elegance resulting from antiqued finishes, wrought iron, exotic woods and stag.
Ray is one of the best bladesmiths that I've encountered. He is often asked to demonstrate bladesmithing to other bladesmiths and knife collectors. His ability to forge to shape is spectacular -- showing a tremendous degree of control. The long clip point blade was entirely forged to shape -- including the ricasso and swedge. Each of his carefully measured hammer blows is kept as a history in the steel.
The antique feel is continued throughout the forge finished and antiqued wrought iron fittings. The wrought iron was recovered from an 1850's era wagon wheel. Polished elk antler forms a solid, secure grip.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched rawhide sheath by John Cohea. John is renowned for his frontier style rawhide sheaths. Here, he combines rawhide with rattlesnake skin and tassels for a very impactful sheath. Excellent work throughout!!
