Description: Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing hunting knife. Though Bruce made this to be a high performance hunter, it will fit well in any collection! Bruce was honored as an ABS journeyman smith in June 2011
This hunter features a 5-3/4 inch carbon steel blade hand forged from 5160 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment line is clearly evident on the blade. This shows the division between the soft, supportive spine, and the ultra-hard edge steel. The result: superior edge holding with exceptional durability.
The 416 stainless steel guard is precision fit to the blade and is followed by a silicon bronze spacer surrounded by thinner black fiber spacers. The black fiber assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle is formed from red morrel burl. This Australian wood is extremely rare and quite captivating. The burl is similar to red mallee burl though darker and richer in ton. The knife can be kept close at hand with the hand tooled leather sheath. Excellent work throughout.
