Description: Mike Mann is a household name in re-enactment circles. His handmade custom knives are created in his remote log home in the mountains of North Idaho.
This Cumberland evokes knives of the 1890s. This golden age of American knifemakers created some of the most dramatic and elegant knives of our land. This knife is reminiscent of this earlier era when a man needed to have a knife at his side (or even in his boot!) for added protection (or offense!). During this time of card sharks and wild dreams, the distinction between a gentleman and a scoundrel was often blurred.
The blade has a dramatic swedge. The grinds are satin finished, whereas the flats are forge finished. This results in stunning, high contrast grind lines. The spine, which measures .27 inch as it approaches the ricasso, is quite substantial. The full tang is also thick, bringing the weight back into the handle. Elk antler scales are very comfortable in the hand and provide a secure hold. A brass bolster and brass pins finish the handle.
The leather sheath is well constructed and features a belt loop for easy carry. Brass studs ensure sturdy, dramatic construction.
