Description: This very rare Hunting Panther was made by renowned Northwest knifemaker Rod Chappel and completed July 18th, 1996. It has been in a private collection and has been well cared for. There is very minimal, light scuffing on the guard and this knife is priced to sell! This is a quintessential Rod Chappel Hunting Bowie.
The 8-1/2 inch blade features a double hollow grind. The left side is marked: "July 18th, 1996 / Mountlake Terrace, Wa / S.S. 440c". The right side is marked: "Roderick Caribou / Chappel ……. / "Hunting Panther / Ser No. 02".
Both the pommel and large double lugged guard are formed from stainless steel and brought to a mirror polish. Red micarta surrounds thinner steel spacers. The handle is carved from black linen micarta -- also brought to a high polish.
Excellent work throughout from one of the great makers in the custom knife industry!
