Description: Mastersmith J.D. Smith has an artistic vision to his work that is exceptional -- a primitive sense of power is combined with flawlessly precise execution.
This elegant utility knife was inspired by the Scottish Sgian Dubh, which translates as 'black or hidden knife'. It is traditionally worn tucked into the top of the kilt hose with only the upper portion of the hilt visible.
The drop point blade is forged from a highly detailed Ws pattern damascus. The fine pattern both grabs attention from a distance and holds it upon closer examination. JD is a true master of damascus and this intricate pattern shows his skills at their best.
The handle is formed from a dark toned stag crown. The crown, which flairs to the right, is perfect for carry tucked into the right sock. The handle is completed with Celtic knot work dog carved in silver. The carving in the leather sheath is a style that JD has developed and is done freehand using a flat knife. A masterpiece with exceptional fit and finish throughout.
