Description: Bob Beaty makes an exceptional hunter -- though a workhorse, and easily capable of performing exceptionally well in hunting conditions, the fit, finish, and artistry make it sure to fit in nearly any collection.
The hollow ground, mirror polished blade is formed from powdered metallurgical D-2 tool steel. A cryogenic heat treat makes the blade have a particularly aggressive edge that will hold its sharpness. It was heat treated to Rc 61-62 (very hard), making a knife that will perform amazingly in the field. The rounded spine is hand fileworked, providing a secure thumb purchase. Both blade and tang are distal tapered for especially good balance.
The amboyna burl scales have terrific, swirling grain patterns and a nice mix of light and dark tones. Red fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. A warthog tusk spacer provides nice contrast.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
