Description: Another exquisite piece by Tom Sterling! This one-of-a-kind, hand forged pendant is a stylish contemporary interpretation of Pacific Northwest Native American art.
Tom began by hand forging the silver into the silhouette of a flounder. A flounder is a type of flatfish that is found in coastal lagoons and estuaries of the Northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. An adult flounder has two eyes on one side of its head. The eye migrates to the other side of the body during metamorphosis - unlike juvenile flounder, adults camouflage themselves against the ocean floor as protection against predators. As a result, the eyes move to the side which faces up.
The pendant measures 1.9 inches from nose to tail and slightly under an inch wide, dorsal fin to ventral fin. Tom adds fine details of the flounder's silhouette with detailed engraving in the familiar ovoids, U forms and S forms characteristic of Pacific Northwest Native American art. The result is a one-of-a-kind, exceptional masterpiece!
The pendant is accompanied by a tarnish-resistant Argentium silver chain measuring 18 inches.
