Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder at an amazingly low price. The blade is perfectly centered and silky smooth -- easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Koth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The clip point Panzer 36 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. Panzer 36 is a martensitic stainless steel with high hardness, high wear resistance and good corrosion resistance. It is cross rolled in production to cancel out residual stresses from the manufacturing process. It has only recently begun being used by knifemakers and has gained significant acclaim from South African makers, where it has quickly found popularity. Mastersmith Kevin Harvey has been involved in the initial testing of Panzer 36 and describes it as having 'excellent edge holding and toughness.' The blade has been hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge, with jimping on the spine to ensure a secure thumb purchase.
The scales combine coyote brown G10 with black micarta in a finely fitted inlay. Rather than using two separate pieces butted together, Andre created the G10 handle and inlaid micarta into the bolster section. This results in very strong scales! The satin finished clip is mounted for tip-up carry. The handle is completed with blue anodized titanium liners. Exceptional fit throughout. Perfectly centered blade with smooth action.
