Dana began the piece by forging the blade to shape from 5160 carbon steel, which he completed with a hand-rubbed satin finish - this results in a stylish and heirloom appearance. The guard is formed from nickel silver and has also been hand satin finished. A ivory micarta spacer separates the guard from the warm toned wood handle. This spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The dramatic spalting in the alder gives an effect reminiscent of rays of sunlight. The handle completes in a downturn. A thoughtfully designed piece with exceptional fit and finish throughout!
