Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and architect by profession, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa recognized John's skill and accepted him as a member in September 2006.
The blade of this capable little hunter is formed from mirror polished 12C27 stainless steel, hollow ground with a pronounced swedge running along nearly the entire spine. The ricasso is bead blasted, a nice contrast to the gleaming bade. Stainless steel bolsters with a textured finish are secured in place with three stainless steel screws, edging a deep choil that will provide a secure finger rest during use. The curve of the choil is mimicked in the front edge of the bolster, providing a pleasing juxtaposition with the bead blasted ricasso.
The handle scales are formed from cream toned warthog tusk. The scales and bolsters are set on purple anodized titanium liners, set on a full tang for durability and secured with three stainless steel screws. A distal taper ensures the knife is well balanced and feels great in the hand. The titanium has been fileworked either side of the backbar. Fiber spacers assist the warthog tusk to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Fantastic fit and finish!
