Description: Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing hunting knife. Though Bruce made this to be a high performance hunter, it will fit well in any collection! Bruce was honored as an ABS journeyman smith in June 2011.
This hunter features a 5 inch blade hand forged from 1084 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment line is clearly evident on the blade. This shows the division between the soft, supportive spine, and the ultra-hard edge steel. The result: superior edge holding with exceptional durability.
The 416 stainless steel guard is precision fit to the blade and is followed by a stainless steel spacer surrounded by thinner black fiber spacers. The black fiber assists the handle in adjusting to temperature and humidity changes. Bruce chose to form the handle from sheoak wood. It has a distinctive pattern that resembles interwoven threads of lace, and when cut across the grain - as on the sides of the handle - the wood displays lovely chatoyancy.
This knife can be kept close at hand with the Kydex sheath. Excellent work throughout.
