Description: Journeyman Smith Brian Thie is a maker to watch! His work has tremendous integrity and has a consistently excellent attention to detail.
The long, clip point blade was hand forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. Brian heat treated it using traditional Japanese techniques of heat treatment. This technique results in a hamon (clay heat treatment line) that travels along the blade and shows the transition between the soft, supportive spine and the ultra-keen, long lasting cutting edge.
A hand-rubbed satin finish adds to the heirloom appearance. The blade is distal tapered for optimal balance. The stabilized curly maple handle is well rounded and provides a sure, comfortable grip. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
