Description: Higonokami are the classic folding pocket knives native to Japan. This traditional knife is a friction folder, using the friction of the swivel and the pressure of the user's hand on a protruding tang to prevent the knife from folding during use.
The elegant blade is stainless damascus surrounding a VG-10 'super-steel' core. This steel ensures exceptional edge holding. The spine is carved into the shape of bamboo, the contrast lines of Koji-san's chosen damascus evoking a straight grained bamboo stalk well. The blade has smooth action and is perfectly centered.
Koji Hara meticulously carved the pure silver handle into a bamboo shape matching the blade. With a tongue-in-cheek nod to realism, the silver is finished to a textured shimmer and Koji carved 'splits' into the metal handle, mimicking the texture of raw bamboo perfectly. The pivot combines textured brass and stainless steel. The silver frame surrounds a mirror polished stainless steel backbar, also carved into the shape of bamboo to elegantly merge with the similarly carved spine when the blade is open. The handle is completed with three nickel silver pins.
Stunningly beautiful and very well executed. Truly exceptional work!
