Description: Neil McKee came to knifemaking from the rendezvous circuit, focusing initially on knives made in the Early American style. When the engraving bug bit him nearly as hard as the knifemaking bug, Neil began finding many new ways to express his art. The results are stunning.
The O1 carbon steel blade is hand satin finished, lending this piece an heirloom quality. The spine has been hand fileworked to provide a secure thumb purchase. Black and white ebony scales have a bold grain structure are dovetailed to steel bolsters for a perfect fit. Brass rivets bring out warmth in the lighter tones of the wood. The bolsters have been engraved by Neil, depicting a scrollwork frame surrounding an oval with a "quilted" effect. Excellent work throughout.
